• Apple Card will soon be paying in installments for Apple products
• Interest-free comparison of rates
• Management via the wallet app
As Bloomberg reports, citing people familiar with the matter, tech giant Apple has plans to offer its credit card customers monthly installments for some in-house products.
iPad, Mac, AirPods & Co .: hire purchase without interest?
According to insiders, the US company from Cupertino is to launch a new service for its Apple Card in the next few weeks. More specifically, it is an option that offers twelve monthly installments for the purchase of iPads, Macs, Apple Pencil and iPad keyboards – and that without charging interest. Customers who buy AirPods or want to bring an AppleTV or HomePod in the house would have a term of six monthly installments without interest, according to Bloomberg. Last year, Apple already offered a similar offer for the iPhone, which allowed customers to pound their new iPhones for 24 months without interest.

These payments can then be managed via the Apple Card area in the iPhone wallet app. Possible fees are added to the Apple Card bill here. Exactly what fees should be involved is still unknown due to the lack of details. For this, the new payment option should be compatible with the popular educational discounts, according to the people familiar with the matter.
With the planned rate service, Apple would likely boost business with its credit card offering launched in cooperation with Goldman Sachs. The intension could also be new customer acquisition.
In April, CEO Tim Cook had already hinted that Apple was aiming to launch an installment payment service for more products than the iPhone, but the timing was unknown. It remains to be seen whether the insiders are right and Apple fans can rush to expand the payment options for the Apple Card in a few weeks.
