BERLIN (dpa-AFX) – According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the health officials in Germany reported 412 new corona infections within one day. This means that at least 199 375 people in Germany have been demonstrably infected with the Sars-CoV-2 virus since the beginning of the Corona crisis, as reported by the RKI on Tuesday (data as of July 14, midnight).
According to the RKI, 9068 people infected with the virus have died in Germany to date – an increase of 4 compared to the previous day.
The reproduction number, or R-value for short, was 1.06 (previous day: 1.00) according to RKI estimates with data as of July 14th, midnight. This means that on average an infected person infects another person. The R-value shows the infection process approximately one and a half weeks beforehand.
Since mid-May, the RKI has also been giving a so-called seven-day R. It refers to a longer period and is therefore less subject to daily fluctuations.
