MUNICH (dpa-AFX) – CSU boss Markus Söder is sticking to the internal procedure for the free program of the next candidate for chancellor. The procedure has always been this way: “The CDU has the right to propose because it is simply the bigger sister. The CSU can say no, has the right of veto,” said Söder in a ZDF summer interview on Sunday. First, the CDU must first clarify who will become the new party leader, emphasized Söder.
When asked about his own candidacy as Chancellor, Söder affirmed: “My place is in Bavaria.” Looking at the current survey situation for the Union and him personally, Söder said: “Surveys are due to the current situation.” Nobody should believe that the surveys always stay that way.
Söder warned that the majority of people are currently interested in the future of Corona, more than the well-being of individuals. The situation could be completely different in autumn. He also fears that it will not be so easy economically./ctt/had/DP/nas
