The first presidential debate for the United States elections between Trump and Biden generated a lot of debate on social media. What was the winner? Did anyone win? We don’t know, but the prediction crypto markets have something to say.
Crypto prediction of a contentious debate
For many, the presidential debate between Donald Trump and Joe Biden left much to be desired; the disappointment marked the atmosphere in the networks. In fact, many wondered how they could be the only two options to choose from.
Depending on your perspective and the factors you evaluate, you may or may not have a clear winner. But, in case of not having it, the crypto markets present their predictions to you.
Predictions, Trump or Biden?
Polymarket, an Ethereum-powered prediction platform, produced a six-figure volume amid early presidential debates.
Specifically, the platform posted on Twitter that it experienced a volume of more than $ 100,000 during the debate. But, even more curious, the platform pointed out that before the debate crypto users pointed out that Trump was the winner of the elections.
However, after the debate, the situation changed. Almost 55 percent believe that Trump will not win the election.
On the other hand, the electoral futures in FTX soared and its CEO pointed out that they entered more than $ 4 million in Open Interest trying to choose the winner between Joe Biden and Donald Trump. Here the predictions also turned against Trump.
Reaction from the crypto community
Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, was one of those who took to the networks to vent his disappointment. “That was the worst thing I have seen in my life …”, he told crypto Twitter.
Then Anthony Pompliano, co-founder of Morgan Creek Digital, noted his clear disappointment in both candidates. “Pretty crazy that these are the two best people our country could find to be president,” he wrote on Twitter.
And even some called to abstain from voting together. “Faced with this‘ choice ’, the noble act is to abstain” He said Voorhees, CEO of crypto exchange ShapeShift.
And, he’s not the only one, Pierre Rochard, Bitcoin Strategist at Kraken, not only suggested refraining, but recommended buying Bitcoin instead.
“Voting is a waste of time because the results cannot be independently verified. You have to trust third parties. With Bitcoin, you can verify. Don’t vote, buy Bitcoin », noted on Twitter.
Maybe abstaining is not the solution, but Bitcoin is a good option if you want to distance your savings from the whole mess. Who will be the winner? Trump or Biden?
