Japan’s industrial production fell by 0.9% last November compared to the previous month, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry reported Friday.

Compared to November last year, the indicator fell 8.1%, according to official data. Already last October, industrial production in Japan had fallen 4.2% over the previous month and had recorded a year-on-year reduction of 7.4%.

The sectors that contributed most to the decline were those of machinery in general, electrical machinery and information and communications equipment.

They had a positive effect, among others, the vehicle sector, the remaining transport equipment and electronic items.

Likewise, shipments (-7.7%) also had a significant year-on-year reduction, while inventories increased 1.7%.

The Government expects that in December of this year Japan’s industrial production will grow by 2.8% compared to the previous month and increase by 2.5 in next January.
