BRSSEL (dpa-AFX) – EU Council Chairman Charles Michel has committed the Europeans to a joint fight against the corona pandemic. “We’re all in the same boat,” said Michel after the video summit on the corona pandemic on Thursday evening. “We need to roll up our sleeves and pull together,” he added.
In the fight against the pandemic, a common approach to the dissemination and use of rapid tests is needed, Michel said. To keep track of contacts, the “interoperability” of the various smartphone apps must be improved. There was also talk of harmonizing the quarantine period in Europe.
They also want to prepare a vaccination strategy so that a vaccine can be used efficiently when it is available. In addition, a logistical approach for efficient vaccination campaigns needs to be found, as well as a communicative approach against “fake news” about vaccinations.
