The proportion of extremely poor people is increasing this year for the first time in more than 20 years, it said in a statement on Wednesday. According to this, 150 million people could have to live on less than 1.90 dollars (around 1.60 euros) per day by 2021. 9.1 to 9.4 percent of the world population is expected to be extremely poor; Corona affects 1.4 percent more than originally expected.
The German Development Minister Gerd Müller said: “This year up to 115 million people will fall into extreme poverty.
